SNAFUEL, Inc. is a non-profit consortium of commercial airlines and cargo operators at JWA that provides fueling services for the consortium. JWA authorized SNAFUEL to construct, maintain, and operate a new above-ground jet fuel storage tank farm (Expanded Fueling Facilities) comprised of two new tanks, each with a net operating capacity of 1.5 million gallons (37,000 barrels). The project also included the construction of a five-mile, 12-inch Jet A fuel pipeline with connections between the new and existing tank farms, and between the Expanded Fueling Facilities and a common carrier jet fuel pipeline. Additional scope of work items included the construction of a pump station and fire control station. The Expanded Fueling Facilities will eliminate the need for approximately 44 fuel tanker truck deliveries per day to the airport’s secure area, providing benefits to JWA and the adjacent community, including decreased traffic congestion, improved airport security, and decreased air pollution.
