Project Overview

Butier Engineering, Inc. is providing construction management and inspection services for the Lester J. Berglund Water Treatment Plant Clearwell Replacement Project. This project represents the second phase of Poway’s $70 million water improvement program, the largest capital improvement effort in the city's 40-year history. The primary objective of the project is to enhance the reliability of drinking water for customers by bypassing and then replacing the aging 10 MG Clearwell, which stores treated water from the Lester J. Berglund Water Treatment Plant.

Scope of Work

  • Replace the nearly 60-year-old Clearwell with two identical 4 MG aboveground circular prestressed concrete tanks
  • Installation of piping and related appurtenances
  • Site grading and access road construction
  • Electrical power and instrumentation systems
  • Demolition and removal of existing facilities
  • Site security enhancements
  • Restoration of the Lake Poway Recreation Area softball field
  • Coordination with the City of Poway for necessary closures and system shutdowns
