Project Overview

Butier Engineering, Inc. was selected to provide construction management and inspection services for the rehabilitation and repairs of nine (9) 32,000-gallon steel wastewater treatment tanks called biological aeration filers (Biofors). To maintain the recycled water supply, each Biofor was removed from service one at a time.

Scope of Work

  • Removal, storage, and disposal of media and gravel
  • Removal of all 1600 nozzles and 1600 diffuser sections
  • Cleaning of the filter plenum and media bed internals
  • Sampling and testing of scale material
  • Internal and external inspection
  • Abrasive blasting of internal/external surfaces of each Biofor
  • Removal, wash, repair, and replacement of internal nozzle piping and air diffusers
  • Grinding, sanding, welding, and repairing pitted and corroded metal
