Butier Engineering, Inc. provided construction management and inspection services for WBMWD’s Ocean Water Desalination Pilot Plant Phase C Research Program. WBMWD has been conducting a Microfiltration/Ultrafiltration-Reverse Osmosis Pilot study at the El Segundo Power Facility for over four years. The facility required modifications/additions for future testing.

The scope of work included installation of a second pass reverse osmosis unit, installation of a granular media filter unit, installation of parallel microfiltration pretreatment unit, procurement and installation of equipment to implement liquid backwash on one Arkal strainer, relocation and reinstallation of an existing microfiltration unit, removal of existing break tank and auxiliary equipment, procurement and installation of equipment required to implement a series of basket strainers, and procurement and installation of new feed water supply pumps.

CM services included contract administration, inspection (mechanical/plumbing, electrical, structural, civil, geotechnical, and instrumentation and control), change order negotiation, on site QA/QC, schedule review/monitoring, records management, progress reporting, daily inspection reports, claims review, owner representation, and construction testing, start-up, and commissioning.
