Butier Engineering, Inc. provided project management services for the Terminals A and B Improvements Project, JWA’s three-year plan to modernize the Thomas F. Riley Terminal Complex. The Butier Team worked closely with JWA operations and security on landside and airside construction activities and was responsible for the following scope of work: consultant, agency, airline, tenant and utility coordination; monitoring the contractor’s schedule; cost control; permit compliance; contract management; construction observation; field engineering; coordinating equipment and material deliveries; coordinating third-party inspections; providing QA inspections; coordinating shutdown requests; and safety oversight. The phased endeavor included the following safety, code compliance, and aesthetic improvements:
- Seismic retrofit of 175 structural connections to the existing structure and nonstructural elements
- Americans with Disabilities Act compliance study and accessibility upgrades
- Fire alarm system and sprinkler upgrades
- HVAC, M/E/P, IT, and CCTV system upgrades
- Terminal restroom refurbishment
- New nursing mother’s lounge construction
- New animal relief area construction
- Interior signage and wayfinding improvements
- Vaulted ceilings and new paint
- Lighting renovations
- Marble floor improvements
- Roofing repairs
- Carpet and ceiling tile replacement
- Skycap area upgrades
