Butier Engineering, Inc. provided construction management and inspection services for the construction enhancements at the Regional Lift Station to improve operational reliability. The improvements include the following:

  • Construction of a new 12-foot diameter manhole to expand the existing wet well capacity;
  • Constructing an access catwalk to this new manhole;
  • Furnishing and installing a permanent bypass pumping system;
  • Constructing new suction and discharge bypass piping, including valves and fittings;
  • Piping connections to existing manholes, wet well, and valve vault facilities;
  • Demolition of existing surge tank facilities, Pump No. 5 pump/motor and piping, and miscellaneous valves and piping within the pump room;
  • Furnishing and installing new 125 hp vertical sewage pump and motor (Pump No. 5), grinder, valves, piping and fittings;
  • Demolition of existing valve vault canopy;
  • Construction of new removable valve vault canopy;
  • Removal and repair of all concrete surfaces of the existing wet well and applying polyurethane coating;
  • Electrical and control modifications; and
  • Miscellaneous site improvements.

The improvements included the addition of a standby diesel engine-driven emergency bypass pumping system, rehabilitation of the existing wet well, installation of an overflow basin, and replacement of Pump No. 5.  The project also included related piping, electrical, instrumentation, and controls.  The existing facility maintained operation during construction.
