Project Overview
Butier Engineering, Inc. provided project/construction management and inspection services for the Moffett Drive and Park Avenue Extension Roadway Project. The project provided service for the backbone of the Tustin Legacy (formerly the Marine Corps Air Station, Tustin), which is a 1,600-acre urban master-planned community consisting of over 2,340 homes, “The District” regional shopping center (1 million sq. ft.), various education facilities, neighborhood parks, and major roadways and related infrastructure.
Scope of Work
- Removal and compaction of 250,000 CY of soil
- 275,000 SF of subgrade preparation and street fine grading
- 4,000 LF of reinforced concrete box storm drain
- Construction of street improvements, paving, utility installation, signing, traffic installation, landscaping, and irrigation
- Approximately 15,000 CY of concrete was used to construct the reinforced concrete box storm drain, which includes lateral storm drains with catch basins
Project Challenges/Solutions:
Major dewatering efforts and shoring under the Jamboree Bridge at Moffett Drive presented significant challenges that Butier coordinated successfully. Butier worked with several agencies, including Irvine Ranch Water District, the County of Orange, and the Department of the Navy, for the installation of reclaimed and domestic waterlines.
