Butier Attends Historic GWRS Groundbreaking Ceremony
Butier’s project team attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Final Expansion of Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) on November 8, 2019. The historic event was celebrated by OCWD and OCSD, public officials, project stakeholders, and industry professionals. Butier—in partnership with Carollo Engineers—is providing construction management and inspection services for the GWRS, which is the world’s largest advanced water purification system of its kind. The final expansion will create an additional drought-proof water supply for over one million people by expanding the existing 100 MGD facility to 130 MGD. The project’s total construction cost is approximately $200 million and is expected to be completed in 2023.
