Butier to Provide Construction Engineering Services for City of Santa Ana’s San Lorenzo Sewage Lift Station
The City of Santa Ana, Public Works Agency selected Butier Engineering to provide construction engineering services for the San Lorenzo Sewage Lift Station Project. Construction of the $7.6-million project will begin in January 2020 and is expected to be completed by January 2021. The new sewage lift station will replace the existing Segerstrom Lift Station. Additional team members include Tetra Tech (Engineer of Record) and RockForce Construction (General Contractor).
County of Orange Awards Butier Owner’s Rep Contract for Dana Point Harbor Revitalization
The County of Orange OC Public Works executed an eight-year term contract with Butier Engineering to provide Owner’s Representative Services for the Dana Point Harbor (DPH) Revitalization Project. DPH is a 276.8-acre marine-oriented recreational facility that provides year-round activities for boaters, residents, tourists, and the general public. The $337.82-million project will include revitalizing and redeveloping the Harbor’s commercial core, marina, and hotel through a Public-Private partnership with real estate development team Dana Point Harbor Partners LLC (DPHP). The County and DPHP will develop the project components in phases, with construction on the commercial core beginning in late 2020. Butier’s team—including Blue Mountain Development and CAA Planning—will provide a broad range of management and advisory services from program management and field representation inspection to design QA/QC oversight and multiple stakeholder coordination.
Butier Attends Historic GWRS Groundbreaking Ceremony
Butier’s project team attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Final Expansion of Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) on November 8, 2019. The historic event was celebrated by OCWD and OCSD, public officials, project stakeholders, and industry professionals. Butier—in partnership with Carollo Engineers—is providing construction management and inspection services for the GWRS, which is the world’s largest advanced water purification system of its kind. The final expansion will create an additional drought-proof water supply for over one million people by expanding the existing 100 MGD facility to 130 MGD. The project’s total construction cost is approximately $200 million and is expected to be completed in 2023.
Butier Sponsors Moffett Drive Bridge Dedication Ceremony
Butier Engineering was a proud sponsor of the City of Tustin’s Moffett Drive Bridge dedication ceremony held on October 30, 2019. The bridge, which spans across Peters Canyon Channel, connects Moffett Drive from Irvine to Tustin, increasing access and street connectivity within the Tustin Legacy Development. City of Tustin Public Works Director Doug Stack kicked off the event followed by speeches from Mayor Charles E. “Chuck” Puckett and Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Allan Bernstein. The ceremony concluded with a parade of convertible cars driving Mayor Puckett, Mayor Pro Tem Bernstein, and Council Members Letitia Clark, Barry W. Cooper, and Austin Lumbard across the bridge for the first time. Butier provided construction management and inspection services for Moffett Drive Bridge. Additional team members included Michael Baker International (Designer) and USS Cal Builders, Inc. (Contractor).

Butier Attends Grand Re-Opening Ceremony for West Basin Visitor Center
Congratulations to West Basin Municipal Water District for the grand re-opening of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility Visitors Center. Butier Engineering, Inc. was honored to be a sponsor of the water education center’s dedication ceremony held on October 3, 2019, in El Segundo, CA. The renovated multipurpose facility will better assist West Basin in its goal to educate visitors about the District’s mission, various water recycling treatment processes, as well as water-related issues in the region. Butier Engineering performed construction management and field engineering services for the renovation project. Additional team members included SVA Architects (Architect) and Angeles Contractor, Inc. (Construction Contractor). Bird’s-Eye View of Trampas Canyon Dam & Reservoir
A bird’s-eye view of Santa Margarita Water District’s Trampas Canyon Dam and Reservoir project shows the progress of the massive earth-moving effort to construct the 1.6 billion-gallon recycled water reservoir. When completed, total grading and excavation will be approximately 4.3 million cubic yards (CY). The total material placed to date at the main dam and east saddle dam is over 1.75 million CY. West Basin Municipal Water District Awards Butier On-Call CM Contract
West Basin Municipal Water District (District) awarded Butier Engineering, Inc. a three-year term contract to provide on-call construction management services for various treatment, operations, conveyance, and capital facilities projects. The District—which services 900,000 people and 17 cities within 185 square miles—has identified 29 projects that it will issue to CM firms under five separate contracts. Butier’s team consists of Ninyo & Moore (Geotechnical and Materials Testing); ON-SITE Technical Services, Inc. (Specialty Inspection); and JMC2 Civil Engineering + Surveying.
Trabuco Canyon Water District Awards Butier Contract for Ridgeline Booster Pump Station
Trabuco Canyon Water District selected Butier Engineering, Inc. to provide construction management and inspection services for the Ridgeline Booster Pump Station in Lake Forest, CA. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the installation of three CFS turbine pumps, upgrade of one CFS pump, improvements to the booster station building, construction of a new electrical control room, and installation of new underground suction piping.
SOCWA Awards Butier CM Contract for J.B. Latham and Coastal Treatment Plant Improvements
South Orange County Wastewater Authority (SOCWA) selected Butier Engineering to provide construction management services for the J.B. Latham Treatment Plant (JBLTP) Package ‘B’ Improvements and the Coastal Treatment Plant Facility Improvements Projects. The scope of work for both conventional activated sludge, secondary treatment facilities includes equipment and structure repairs, equipment and structure replacements, new piping, safety-related modifications, and structural demolition. Butier and GHD Attend Dedication of SAR Enhanced Recharge Phase 1A Project
Butier Engineering, Inc. and GHD celebrated the completion of the Santa Ana River Enhanced Recharge Phase 1A Project at the dedication ceremony on May 23, 2019, in Highlands, CA. The project, which secures local water resources for the region, was spearheaded by San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District in cooperation with San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District, Western Municipal Water District, and Riverside Public Utilities. Butier Engineering, Inc.—in partnership with GHD—provided design, engineering, and construction management services for Phase 1A.
